Joel West is a founding member of Groundwerk Vancouver and Groundwerk Recordings. Groundwerk is a monthly producers meet-up and listening party held at The Anza in Vancouver, out of which has recently arisen an online label. Since launching in April 2015 Groundwerk has held fourteen meet-ups, produced three showcase events in addition to stages at TEDx Vancouver, Vancouver Car Free Days, and Vancouver Mural Festival, and run three remix contests with East Van Digital, RF (Rennie Foster's label) and most recently for Groundwerk Recordings. Joel hosted Groundwerk's panel at Bass Coast 2016 on building community in the electronic underground, which you can watch at groundwerkvancouver.com. Andrew Williams (Night Vision) and Isis Graham (Substation) are in it. It's keen.

As a DJ, Joel recently opened for Kevin & Dantiez Saunderson (US), and Dave Angel (UK), and played Sunwave, Summer Ender Bender 5, Vancouver Art & Leisure, Nautilus at The Anza, Gorg-O-Mish, MIA, Trancemission 19, and so on. Joel loved getting a B2B set in with Jon Delerious at Bamboo in 2015, even though Jon out-deeped Joel by a ratio of 15-1. Joel played Fozzyfest from 2010-2015, and looks forward to a 2017 return. Having started on vinyl in 2003, Joel now loves the ultra-portability of USB keys. Joel plays and produces house and techno.

Joel is also an actor, improvisor, and instructor of same. You can see Joel on iZombie, Lucifer, Legends Of Tomorrow, Supernatural, Arrow, and several other shows whose air dates are beyond press time and thus must remain secret.
